Each podiatry consultation includes the below as needed.
Nailcare
Safe treatment of toe nails to reduce the risk of problems such as discomfort from thickened toe nails or ingrowing toe nails. Removal of any spicules of nail and clearing of debris from under toe nails.
Foot Health Assessment
Each new patient consultation starts with a foot health assessment where your circulation, sensation, skin, nails and overall foot condition are considered to allow a tailored treatment plan.
During your assessment we cover:
Your medical history and medications
Assessment of circulation and sensation
Condition of your skin and toe nails
Discussion regarding foot concerns and any foot health goals
Callus and Corns
Removal of corns and callus and treatment of cracked heels. Skin care advice to help you care for your feet between treatments.
Diabetic Foot Assessment
Having diabetes means you are more at risk of developing foot problems. This is because raised blood glucose levels can damage the nerves in your feet leading to a loss of sensation. It can also damage your circulation leading to reduced blood flow to your feet. An annual foot assessment can help to prevent serious foot problems. The purpose of the annual foot assessment is to:
Monitor your foot health
Advise on any risk factors
Manage complications
